Monday Meditation with Betsy Ryan

“Irest” from Integrative Restoration, the Institute founded by Richard Miller,  is based on the ancient form of Yoga Nidra - a yogic sleep where you are in a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping.

iRest is a research-based transformative practice of deep relaxation and meditative inquiry and is currently being utilized in VA hospitals, military bases, hospitals and clinics, hospice, homeless shelters, community programs, and schools. Research has shown that iRest effectively reduces PTSD, depression, anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain and chemical dependency while increasing health, resiliency, and well-being.

During this practice you will be lying on the floor or seating in a supported and comfortable position and be guided to deep relaxation through breath and body sensing exercises and then lead through personal inquiry through guided prompts.

ABOUT BETSY:  As a yogi for the past 16 years, Betsy found her favorite pose to be shavasana or corpse pose where she felt completely at ease and at peace with the world. After years of studying various forms of mediation she read about Richard Miller’s iRest Yoga Nidra program 5 years ago and was hooked! This form of meditation most resonated with her quest to find an accessible practice for healing. After years of training and retreating she has recently completed the two year certification process. She is honored to bring this practice to The Hivery!
